Fall Favorites 2017

Hello sweet friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! Monday is here and so starts another week. Before we jump into today's post I want to take a minute to say friends in Texas we are praying for you, you are in my thoughts and my prayers. Friends if you are able text Harvey to 90999. This donates $10 to the Red Cross to continue helping our friends in Texas.

Now onto today's post! With September practically here I thought I would continue to share about my love for this glorious season. You see to me there is nothing better then a crisp fall day. September-December is my absolute  favorite. Today I want to share some fun fall outfits with you. I love how both of these are perfect for a great fall day. And both looks can mix and match with other pieces in your wardrobe. One this I think everyone needs is a classic fall tote. This Madewell transport tote is the perfect color and the leather makes this a bag you will love and treasure for the rest of your life. A bag like this will last a lifetime and only get better with age. If you invest in anything this fall make it a classic leather bag.

BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies EVER!

Hello sweet friends! How was your weekend? Mine was great! This weekend I found some cute new pieces for my home. Hobby Lobby had 50% wall art (Insert all the heart eye and praise hands emoji) I felt like I pretty much hit the jackpot. Home decor is probably one of my most favorite things ever. Making a house a home brings me so much joy. Okay okay but now onto today's post. I don't know about you but there is something so homey and comforting about baking chocolate chip cookies. Every time I see the Tollhouse commercial I get so sentimental. I think of growing up and baking with my Grandma. There are a million and one recipes for chocolate chip cookies and making the perfect one. I don't brag on a lot of my baking but I am pretty proud of my chocolate chip cookie recipe. They are so easy and delicious. So without further adieu here is my recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  2 1/4 cups flour

  1 teaspoon baking soda

  1 teaspoon salt

1 stick of butter

3/4 cups granulated sugar

3/4 cups packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chip cookies

Directions:

Pre-Heat oven to 350 degrees

Mix together dry ingredients in small bowl- flour, baking soda, salt

Mix together wet ingredients granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter, and vanilla extract until creamy.

Add one egg at a time and mix well.

Slowly add in your dry ingredients until it's all mixed together.

Add and stir in chocolate chips.

Take a cereal spoon and make small size balls to place on your cookie sheet.

Bake for 8-9 minutes. (watch them carefully: see below for why)

Now here are my special tips and tricks that in my opinion make these the BEST cookies!

1. Make sure your butter is at room temperature

2. Buy quality vanilla extract. 2 of my favorites can be found here and here

3. DON'T over crowd your cookie sheet. I like to bake 6 cookies at a time.

4. Don't over bake them. You know they are done when the edges are brown and the middle still looks a little doughy. Once you take them out of the oven they will cook a little longer on the pan. This makes them brown and delicious on the edges and soft in the middle.

You guys seriously these are the best cookies! Do you have a favorite cookie recipe that you love to go back to every time? Share it with my in the comments below!

I hope you have the BEST day!

Your Story is Unique

Today I want to go a little deeper here on the blog. I want to share something with you that has been a struggle for me, something that has been on my heart. I want to be as honest and transparent as I can be, but know that this is also scary to share. I have written this post a few times but have never been ready to actually share it until now. Today I want to talk about comparison. More so about comparing yourself to others. This is something that  I have struggled with, I see all these people on social media, at my work, church, and I allow the enemy to come in and tell me that my life and who I am isn't good enough. I don't have a perfect life like this girl, my blog isn't as big as this one, I'm not as pretty, as smart, and as brave. I allow these things to come into my mind and take over.

The other day I was on my Instagram and I came across this. I was taken back  in that moment and had to sit and read it over and over again.  I couldn't help but cry as I sat and read this statement. You see as I compared myself to all those things before I never thought of the people I was comparing myself too. You see I don't know the hurt they might be feeling, I don't know what struggles they are dealing with I just see there pretty pictures and think that they are perfect.

As I was sitting there in that moment God spoke so clearly to me. My story, the plan He has for me is MINE. Nobody else's, only mine. I was humbled in that moment. His plans for me are far greater then I can ever imagine. I should be concerned with the way He see's me and no one else. By allowing the enemy to come in and tell me that my story and my life are not worthy hurts my Heavenly Father because He created me in His image. You see He doesn't make mistakes, and He will NEVER fail me. Even though my life isn't like those people I compare it too, it's a beautiful life. Full of love, joy, and peace. Please understand my life is NOT perfect. But those imperfections are what make my story mine. And the only person I want to be is the person He created me to be.

I still have my struggles. But when I start getting those thoughts of comparison in my head I remember that my life is good. And His plan for me is greater. Know that I am praying for you friend and that if this is something that you are struggling with too, remember that there is a God that loves you and thinks you're worth DYING for.  He is waiting with arms wide open. All you need to do is call on Him.

I hope you have the BEST day

Summer is here and I am so happy! One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to grab my best girlfriends and have dinner out on a patio. This look is an easy go to. I love the distressed boyfriend jeans with a classic easy tank. The fun summer heels and jewelry make this outfit pop. Pair this look with a bold lip and you have a fun night out!

August Goals

Hello sweet friend, Can you believe that August is here. The very last month of summer. I myself am SO READY for fall. I am a fall girl through and through. However this summer has been one for the books. I have made so many sweet memories that I have loved. I am a little sad to see this season go but I also can't wait to look ahead to this last month and add more memories and sweet times.

One thing I have missed on the blog was sharing my monthly goals. I have always been a girl that loves to plan. I am a first born type a personality that loves to be organized and to plan. I also think it's a great way to keep those goals. By sharing them with you it's an accountability for me.

Let's Jump in here are my goals for August!

1. Complete Couch to 5K. Have you guys heard of this? I set a goal for myself to run my first 5k this year. I am all registered for the Turkey day 5k and need to keep training for it. I heard about this app from a friend and I really want to  complete the program.

2. Throw an end of summer dinner party. You guys I love community and hosting the people I love the most. I have wanted to host a monthly supper club for some time now and while I don't think I can commit to monthly at this time I do want to try and host one at the end of this summer and one in fall.  P.S if you have hosted a supper club before I would love to hear some of your ideas and see what works!! Comment below or send me a email!

3. Clean out and reorganize my closet. I have a few pieces that I am ready to part with and I want to start fresh for fall. Plus it's always good to clean out your closet and make room for some new pieces!! ;)

4. Read 1 new book. This summer I haven't been reading and I don't like that. I really want to dive back into reading and I have a few good books that I have been wanting to jump into. P.P.S I would LOVE to hear your favorite reading books!!

So those are my goals for August. I can't to tackle these and cross them off my list! What are your goals for the month of August?

Have the BEST day!
